Obtaining a Marriage License in Florida
To get married in Florida, you’ll need to meet a few requirements and follow the state’s procedures. Here's a breakdown of what you need to know:
What You’ll Need to Apply for a Marriage License
Identification: Both individuals must present a valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license, state ID, or passport.
Social Security Numbers: You must provide your Social Security numbers but do not need to bring the actual cards.
Additional Requirements:
If divorced within the last 6 months, a copy of the divorce decree is required.
Some counties may ask for a certified birth certificate.
Cost of a Florida Marriage License
The fee for a Florida marriage license is $93.50.
Completing a licensed Florida pre-marital course within the past 12 months can reduce the fee by $32.50.
Waiting Period to Get Married
Florida Residents:
There is a 3-day waiting period unless you complete a State-Sanctioned Marriage Preparation Course.
The course must be completed within the last 12 months. Online Marriage Preparation Course
Non-Florida Residents:
No waiting period—apply and marry on the same day.
Key Florida Marriage License Requirements
Age Restrictions:
Both individuals must be at least 18 years old.

The ceremony must be officiated by a Notary, Judge, or Ordained Minister.
